Research in the Vilotijević group at FSU Jena focuses on the design, discovery and development of new reactions for synthesis of complex organic molecules and applications of these reactions to total synthesis of (biologically) relevant molecules. The unifying theme in our research is phosphorous in organic synthesis and catalysis. Our current efforts are directed towards:

  • new methods to create C-P bonds in synthesis of phosphines,
  • desymmetrization and enantioselective functionalization of phosphorous containing heterocycles,
  • Lewis base catalysis using P-stereogenic phosphines and/or bifunctional phosphine catalysts
  • enantioselective P(III)-P(V) cycling catalysis.
