Oct 2023 – New NMR instrument installed
Our new 300 MHz NMR instrument with a broadband probe and stopped flow equipment is now installed and fully operational. Special thanks goes to Dr. Nils Schlörer and his team for their help in setting up the instrument and integrating it into FSU Jena NMR platfor.
The instrument is a part of the project “Niederfeld-NMR-Plattform für die schnelle Erfassung von NMR-Daten, NMR Screening, und Überwachung schneller chemischer Reaktionen und biomolekularer Interaktionen” supported by the state of Thüringia through Thüringia Aufbaubank, and co-financed by funds from the European Union within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) / Europäischen Fonds für regionale Entwicklung (EFRE).
Sep 2023 – Lucas Gregor defends MSc thesis

Melissa Victoria Fernandes da Silva from Brazil and Caesar Ghiabi from Iran join us for three months for their IAESTE internships. Welcome to Jena!
Jul 2023 – New paper in RSC Chem. Biol.
A paper on biosynthetic incorporation of fluorinated amino acids into gramicidin S, stemming from a great collaboration with the groups of Hajo Kries and Bettina Keller, is now published in RSC Chemical Biology. Read more about it on our publications page.
Jun 2023 – Vladimir Sadohin defends MSc thesis
Congrats to Vladimir on finishing his MSc studies. He continues in Jena as a PhD student in Schubert group (and as a dear guest in our group!).
May 2023 – New paper in Science
The results of a fantastic multidisciplinary collaborative project coordinated by Stallforth and Wariner groups is now published in Science. It’s a really cool story and we are happy to have contributed! Link to the paper is available at our publications page.

We continue the work on latent nucleophiles in Lewis base catalysis. This time it is on enantioselective allylation of silyl enol ethers. Read more about this work at our publications page.
